Analysing the blue zone DOT (Damage over time) change in PUBG

The next week (Week 31) patch release will bring in a new gameplay change

The Blue zone Damage Over Time value has been increased. This has started a series of questions/answers/debates about how good/bad of a change this is. We will look at some of the basic questions which people have in their mind and will also try to answer them at the same time

What does this change mean ?

This change will mean that people will not be able to stay outside of the blue zone for longer periods of time with heals. One strategy which people used to follow in early game was that they would drop at a vehicle spawn location, take a vehicle and rush to the part of the map where the plane did not pass through. This way a player would take a sweet 3 - 4 minutes to loot the whole place and then return to the then marked circle. Even if the player is caught outside the circle. It hardly mattered, as a couple of first aids and painkillers were enough to drive to safety.

This will not happen anymore. People will have to rush towards the circle as soon as possible. The amount of action happening outside the circle will reduce and bridge campers who would rather get hit by the DOT anticipating someone will now get in the safe-zone sooner.

Why the change now ?

It is quite clear that the change has been released because of the upcoming PUBG Invitational. The PUBG Intel Extreme Masters will be happening in Oakland 2017 between 18-19 November 2017 where teams from North America and Europe will battle it out for the $200,000 prize pool.

Mixed reactions of players

While some people are really liking the way the DOT has been handled in the upcoming patch. Some think that it could have been handled better. PUBGDaily's stand at this point is pretty much for the motion because we expect more changes coming in soon to the electric field. There has been a speculation about making the electric field such that its harder for players in it to see/shoot someone or may be reduce the damage one can give from outside the circle.

What about vehicle spawn locations and rates ?

Few redditors brought up an interesting aspect of vehicle spawn randomness. What happens if you drop near Stalber and start looting, the moment you see that the circle is out and far, you must start running irrespective of the loot you have got. Only to reach a looted location within the circle.

If we take a look at the vehicle spawn location possibilities, we will find that there are not many spawn points near Zharky and Stalber. Which brings us to the conclusion that you may choose to just quit the game when you drop at a point outside the circle and there is no vehicle spawn nearby.

So, keep in mind the vehicle spawn points while dropping and planning your next move.
